When using RC hobby servo pulses as the input to a Tic-T825 can it be used, after setup, free of the usb connection?

Yes, configuration settings like the input mode are stored in the Tic’s EEPROM and will persist through power cycles. So, once it is configured for RC input through the Tic Control Center, you can remove USB, power it up separately, and control it via hobby RC servo signals.
