What current limit should be set on DRV8825 Stepper Motor Driver for


I have following Stepper Motor Driver - DRV8825 (https://www.pololu.com/product/2982)
this stepper motor - Sanyo Denki 103-547-52500 (http://www.rta-store.com/de/product/143225-motore-passo-passo-103-547-52500-mb17070)

Now I am not sure exactly what should be my current limt (exact number) - I believe it is 0,35 but if I set it at that number my motors do not move so smooth if I increase limit the movement is smoother but motors and dirvers are getting too hot. Thats why I would like to know if I made the right calculation and what is right current limit for these two components.

I also use Dragonframe, Arduino Mega 2560 and CNC Shield v3.0 in order to move motors.


Your VREF voltage of 0.35V should be correct for the stepper motor current per phase rating of 0.7A in your link. What do mean by “too hot”? It is common for stepper motors to run hot, did you measured the temperature? If so, how did you measure it? Can you post a video showing the motion of your stepper motor. Also, can you post some pictures of your setup showing all connections?
