Use case of the sleep pin mode

On this page: Pololu G2 High-Power Motor Driver 24v13 for the g2 24v13, it says that I can put the driver in a low-power sleep mode by pulling the SLP pin low.

What are the purposes of the sleep mode? Is the only reason to use it to reduce power consumption if the motor does not need to be run?

Hi.

The main reason to put the driver in sleep mode is to reduce power consumption. Another reason would be to put the driver’s outputs in a high impedance state (i.e. coasting).
