Toshiba should hire NXP to write their data sheet

Just got the TB9051FTG Single Brushed DC Motor Driver Carrier #2997.
The Toshiba TB9051 data sheet states:
“Note 1: When the motor is set to the reverse from the forward, or to the forward from the reverse, be sure to perform after setting the brake between them. Otherwise the IC may be broken.”

I’m going to use the Dual MC33926 Motor Driver #1213 with the Freescale - NXP chip, and a great data sheet.

Their English grammar is not be great, but the advice is excellent and applies to all brushed DC motor controllers.

You should not attempt to “instantly” reverse the direction of motor rotation, as the motor will draw TWICE the stall current, potentially destroying the driver.
