Is it possible for the TIC36v4 to sense when the end of travel of a linear stage has been reached without the use of a stop (limit switch)?

The Tic does not have support for automatic stall detection like that. If you are using the Tic in position control mode, you can just limit the max position you command it to go to. Otherwise, if you’re using velocity control mode, you would need some kind of limit switch.
