Tb9051ftg

Hey,
I am using the TB9051FTG. I don’t fully understand the usage of the VM pin. And why does it have two very close holes next to it?

Thanks

Hello.

Those VM holes and the inline GND pin (next to VCC) are spaced specifically to be used with either a 8 mm or 10 mm through-hole capacitor. You can find more information in the pinout table on the TB9051FTG motor driver carrier’s product page.

Thanks.
But what is the purpose of the VM pin?

The VM pin provides access to the reverse-protected motor voltage (this is stated under the “Using the motor driver” section on the TB9051FTG’s product page). As I said in my previous post, you can find more details in the pinout table.

Hey Amanda thanks for the reply,
I have red the datasheet. But I dont fully understand the reason behind this. For what would I use the reverse protected motor voltage?
Thanks

The reverse protected power can be used to supply other devices in your system that do not have built-in reverse voltage protection. You do not need to connect VM to anything; it is added there as a convenience.
