What techniques can I use to stop rfi from pwm controllers?
controlling motors on a radiotelescope receiver with very low noise front end
Hello.
Could you post some more details about your specific setup and the problem you’re having? Are you talking about one of our products in particular or do you have an example of the type of controller you’re working with?

Hi Brandon: I need speed/direction control of two motors. Contemplating the 18v18a control in either G2 or Qik. Either of these undoubtedly use Mosfet H bridges wit very fast switching transients. The transients will generate lots of RFI clear into the GHz region, in addition to commutator noise from the motors. So I would need to somehow snub the whole mess. Is that at all possible?
Moving to for example 3 phase motors isn’t monetarily possible…
Thanks for your interest.
Aside from shielding (if possible) and isolating the telescope electronics from the motor circuit (both physically and electrically), I do not have much specific advice for reducing RFI.
