Powering Maestro 12

I have a 24v system that requires 2 Maestro 12s. Looking at the specs I believe the max input voltage is 16v, but several other people have used the same with 24v. The 24v power has been used to the VSRV pins and not the VIN. Is this setup alright for the board as long as the jumper is removed?

Hello.

When the jumper is removed, the VSRV pin just provides power to the servo power rail. In general 24V should be okay for those pins, but most servos are intended for 4.8-6V nominal, in which case 24V will probably damage them; I recommend checking your servo specs (and anything else you’re connecting to the servo power rail) carefully before connecting 24V to them.

Also, please note that VIN is used to power the Maestro’s logic side, so you will still need to power that from a separate 5-16V source (or power it through USB).

That’s what I was needing, thank you. I am running 24v servos, and the logic side is being powered with 5vs from another board. Thanks again for the quick response.
