Optional CS Capacitor?

I will use Pololu High-Power Motor Driver 36v20 CS model at my project. I saw optional Cs capacitor holes. Why is used? Can we measure current without capacitor?

Thanks,
Firat Dede

Hello.

The current-sense circuit on the motor driver is just a built-in version of our ACS714 Current Sensor Carrier -30 to +30A, so you should see that product page for more information on using the current sensor. The “optional CS capacitor” is referred to as “filter” or “Cf” on the current sensor page and is used to optionally filter the current sensor output. It is not required for current-sense feedback.

I see a small capacitor is already installed on the 36V20CS board between the optional CS capacitor holes. Can you tell me the value of this capacitor.

Hello.

There is a 1 nF capacitor in parallel with the optional CS capacitor through-holes, so without anything soldered to those holes, the filter capacitor (Cf) is 1 nF.

Thanks for the response!
