New to Raspberry and Stepper Motor Controllers

Nathan,

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks.

In the meantime I’ve been able to get some early test images from the S&S System. This setup used 3 Tic-500s driving 2 THK KR-15 (X and Y) with NEMA 17 200 step motors and a HIWIN KK50 (THK KR-26 env) with NEMA 400 step motor. Nikon D500 camera body with Mitutoyo 5X and Raynox 150 (tube lens).

The subject is an old scratched fifthly silicon wafer sliver (cracked off a wafer) I had laying around. The image setup was 16mm X axis (5 steps) 13.75mm Y axis (6 steps) and ~9mm total depth (tilted back subject) in Z axis. 25 micron Z axis steps were using in 30 tile sections for a total of ~2000 individual images. The entire session ran hands off for ~3 hrs, fully automated.

Images were stacked with Zerene with alignments OFF, then each tile stitched with PTgui with mostly default settings. Final image was slightly cropped and some slight sharpening and tone curves for a final image of 27517 by 21448 pixels (590MPixels, 173MB JPEG & 1.6GB TIFF). The IQ isn’t very good, and neither is the subject, but was intended to exercise the system and help find any serious flaws/bugs with this experimental S&S System.

You can see the image at Nikon Image Space, be sure to download to see the detail involved.
