M3pi with qudrature encoders

Hi there!

I am thinking about utilizing the mbed 3pi in one of our university’s robotics courses. However we would require encoder feedback for our purpuoses. I have seen that there are some encoders available for the metal gear motors.
Is it possible to fit these on the fully assembled 3pi version without going to a major fuss and without utilising hot glue or similar hacks?

Kind Regards

Florian

Hello.

To use one of our encoders on the 3pi, some alterations would be required. This forum thread has some examples of people altering their 3pis to use encoders. Alternatively, the Zumo 32U4 has built in encoders. We also have the Romi chassis as a general use platform and it can accommodate encoders.
