JRK 12v12 heatsink

Even when conducting <6 A, I noticed the driver chip gets quite hot. I cut down a CPU heatsink and installed with a thin film of thermal paste. Should I be concerned that the potentially hot sink is making contact with the 47 HFK.OC9?

Thanks
Dave

Hello.

I suspect it’s slightly preferable for the heat sink not to touch the capacitor, but it probably does not matter. In some scenarios, the capacitors can get hotter than the motor driver, so in that case, the heat sink would be helping the capacitor. (You should avoid those cases, though.)
