I'm using a 36v8 Controller but the Stepper motor is stalling @4A.Why?

I’m using a 36v8 Controller but the Stepper motor is stalling @4A. I have tried 1/4, 1/2, and full step still the same result. I went from a Cloudray microstep driver (DM556SX2) to a Pololu 36v8. Was this a smart move or “No”? The motor keeps stalling.

Hello.

Can you post a video that shows the behavior of your stepper motor? The forum does not allow users to post very large videos, but it does work well with videos linked from other sites (like YouTube or Vimeo).

Also, can you provide more specific details about your system, like what stepper motor and power supply are you using? Is there anything attached to the stepper motor’s output shaft, and is the behavior the same if you test the motor with nothing attached to it?

Thank you for your response. I was using a power supply that did not provide enough current (Amps). I’m pulling 4A only providing 3A.

Can you clarify the present status of your system? Are you saying that you resolve the problem by switching to a different power supply?
