I need help understanding the current limit equation for TB67S249FTG Stepper Motor Driver Carrier

I have this product https://www.pololu.com/product/2973 I do not understand what “A” stands for

in the current limit equation and what “V” stands for in the current limit equation? I hope someone here can explain it to me. Maybe my electrical engineering degree is getting in the way.
