Hi Pololu Support Team,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Microrobotics Research Club (MR) at KAIST here in South Korea. We are currently building a heavy-duty mecanum and chain-drive robot for an upcoming robotics CTF competition, and we have run into a major procurement emergency.
Due to a miscommunication during our ordering process, we accidentally purchased 9 bare 37D DC motors instead of the assembled gearmotors. Because of the press-fitted helical pinion on the bare motors, we are entirely unable to integrate them into our drivetrain, and our competition timeline is incredibly tight.
We know that you generally do not sell the 37D gearboxes as standalone units. However, given our situation, is there any possibility of arranging a custom order for just the 9 gearboxes?
If standalone gearboxes are absolutely not an option, does Pololu offer any emergency student or educational discounts for university teams that could help us offset the cost of ordering 9 fully assembled replacement gearmotors? If the above is not possible, since we only opened 1/9 of the motors, could we possible exchange them and pay the difference at your South Korea distributor?
Any help or guidance you can provide to get our drivetrain back on track would be massively appreciated.
