Encoder with ESC

I bought a RoboClaw 2x12A ESC on the site, and I would like an opinion on whether it is advantageous to use an encoder with him, since I do not have problems with the speed difference (engines were bought from the site as well), and if it would make it easier on my control the robot. The robot is a line follower, with two rear motors and a ball in front. If it’s really good, I would like Recommandation to buy an encoder, that is compatible with the ESC. Thank you. Apologize for my bad english.

Hello.

Encoders are generally not necessary for a simple line-following robot unless you are planning to do something more complex, like have your robot learn the course (all of the feedback the robot should need comes from the line sensors). If you are still interested, you might consider some of our motors with quadrature encoders.
