DRV8833 or DRV8835 Dual Motor Driver Carrier

Hello,

I’m about to get 2x 10:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HPCB 6V but I’m not sure which motor driver to get.

I will use the motors in a light line follower robot with a 7.4V lipo. I guess I’m choosing between DRV8833 Dual Motor Driver Carrier and DRV8835 Dual Motor Driver Carrier.

However on another website I found a robot with the same Pololu motors, but that robot uses two motor drivers. “Engine drivers consists of two two-channel H bridges from…”. “To protect the system against damage when taking the maximum current by engines (1600mA), channels A and B of bridges were connected (current efficiency increased to 2A)”.

What motor driver(s) should I get if I want to run the motors at their full potential?

Regards

Hello.

If you parallel the channels on the motor drivers, either the DRV8833 or the DRV8835 should be fine. We do not recommend using those drivers with one channel per motor for those HP motors at that higher voltage. Which driver to use will depend on what control scheme and features you want.
