DRV8825 shorting Vm power supply

Hi,

I recently bought a DRV8825 stepper driver. It was working Ok till one point that I try to measure the current on one coil of the motor. I was not paying attention and instead of measuring in series I was measuring in parallel so I made a short on the motor coils. From that point on the DRV8825 is not responding any more and now when I try to power it again the power supply is going in short circuit.

My question is if there is some possibility that the drive is locked and I don’t know how to unlock it or the drive is permanently dead?

Hello.

It sounds like your DRV8825 carrier is probably broken. If you want to post some pictures or a wiring diagram of your setup, I can take a look to see if there might be some other issue.

Hi,

I was thinking the same but just wanted to confirm. I don’t have any particular setup just a 12V power supply connected to the VMOT and GND of the carrier.

I will try to replace the chip from the carrier.
