Yesterday I had a short circuit on my DRV8825 what also killed my 3D printer controller board (and hopefully not the stepper motor). I think the chip became too hot, despite there is more than enough cooling for the drivers and the heatsink moved… just a bit 
I just mention it here as I found this topic from 2013 with the same problem.

From your pictures it is apparent that your DRV8825 carrier is not one of ours. Also note, we do not offer any stepper motor driver carriers with a heat sink. If you are having issues, you should probably check with your driver’s manufacturer.
