DRV8256P Implementation

I am using a DRV 8256P Pololu motor driver with 25d motors. I was wondering if anybody could double check my schematic, and make sure it is correct. Last time I made a mistake, and I wanted to make sure I wouldnt have any other mistakes on my schematic.

It is difficult to check your schematic from just the cropped picture you posted, but it look like you have the pinout correct. You can also reference the minimal wiring digram and the pinout table on the DRV8256P driver carrier’s product page.

Can you explain what the 5V and 5V_EXT nodes are that you have connected to VM and VIN? In case it wasn’t clear, you should connect your motor power to VIN and the VM pin gives access to that power on the other side of the reverse voltage protection circuit.

The 5V_EXT is for Battery Power, VIN (which is 7.4V but labeled as 5V), and 5V is the VM for powering the ESP32 to control the motor. Would the entire schematic be more helpful?

Hello.

Thank you for posting the full schematic. If your power supply provides 7.4V, then using VM to power your ESP32 board means you will also be powering that board with 7.4V, which the ESP32-DevKitC V4 does not appear to be designed for. So you probably need to come up with another way to power that; like using an appropriate voltage regulator.

I do not see any other problems with your proposed schematic.
