How do I add a fan to cool this driver?
I am setting the current limit to 6.5A, which is well below the max uncooled rating (8A). I just want to add a fan to keep the drive/MOFTs happy.
Hello.
We do not have any specific suggestions for how to add a fan since that depends on the details of your particular system (physical constraints, the particular fan you want to use, etc.).

OK, I understand fully ![]()
What I am thinking about doing is using a 25 X 25 X10mm Heatsink thermally glued on the MOSFETs.(I am assuming they are the components attached to the bottom of the driver’s PCB). Then using a 30mm Bower Fan to blow air across the heat sink, Using male to female header to raise the drive to create the clearance for the heat sink. I just need the thickness for the MOSFETs.
Is this design durable?
The MOSFETs are the components on the bottom side of the board, and their height is around 0.9mm. You can find more detailed information in the 3D model available for the board on the product page under the “Resources” tab.
In general your proposed design sounds reasonable, though I am not sure about using a stack of male and female headers to set the board height. Keep in mind that typical 0.1" pitch headers are only rated for 3A, so they might not be appropriate electrical connectors for the power supply and motor connections.
