I have a motor that only have a positive cable. The negative side is the chassis. Is it possible to combine ground and negative side of the motor with the controllers/drivers?

In general, no, and especially not if you want the motor to rotate in both directions.
If you can electrically isolate the motor chassis from power/system ground, then just use the motor chassis as one terminal.
