A4988 causing voltage drop on VDD

VERY basic setup:

Arduino uno V3 powered by USB
Arduino GND and V3.3 connected to A4988 GND and VDD (bottom right pins)
Nothing else connected

Problem:
As soon as I connect the A4988, the 3.3 voltage drops to around 1V over the VDD and GND pins, instead of the 3.3V the arduino is trying to supply…

Is this A4988 broken?

Hello.

Can you post pictures of how you have everything connected including any soldered connections you made to the board? Is there some reason you are using 3.3V instead of 5V with your Arduino Uno?
