18V25 overcurrent response

Hello
Can anyone give me some information on what the 18V25 brushed motor controller does when it overheats due to excess current?
I have not altered the parameters via the Windows configuration program.
Does it automatically reduce the output until it cools down? It appears that my motor produced less power after an overload situation.
Thank you.

Hello, Noel.

We have a couple of products with 18v25 in the name. If you are referring to the Simple High-Power Motor Controller 18v25, there are two responses for over-temperature protection, abrupt shutoff with hysteresis and gradual limiting. It sounds like you are describing gradual limiting. You can read more about these two responses in the “Advanced Settings” section of the Simple Motor Controller user’s guide.
