Zumo Power Boost at 9V

Hello,

I would like 9V instead of 7,5V in the Zumo robot. What values of R1 and R3 would be needed??

Thanks,
Luisón

Hello.

Why are you interested in boosting the output voltage from the Zumo’s regulator to 9V?

Because I will work with LIPOs and I want a stable voltage, not 8.4 at the beginning and 7.5 later.
And, the pololu motors admit 9V, so why throw out that 20% extra power??
I barely can read “A100 1232” in the chip, but I can find the datasheet

Thanks,
Luisón

It sounds like your main motivation for changing the regulator voltage might be to get higher, more stable voltage for your motors. Is this the case? If so, please note that the motors on the Zumo get their power directly from the battery voltage, not from the regulator. The regulator just supplies power to the Arduino and the front expansion area of the Zumo Shield. (The Zumo sensor reflectance array plugs into the front expansion area, so it receives power from the regulator, too.)

If you really want to change the regulator voltage, I can help you figure out what to change the resistors to, but I am not convinced there is much to be practically gained from such a modification.

Oh! I didn’t realize!

Thanks for your time!!
