Zumo 32U4 OLED Intermittent Failure

I’ve had intermittent OLED display failures on my Zumo32U4 since I got it last year and I just got around to debugging it.

I ruled out software and I re-soldered my display connector in case I had any dry joints but I think I’ve isolated it to the display header on the main board.

If I press on the left side of just the header (with my nail under the display) it reliably boots (even if I only insert the connector very loosely), then when I release the pressure the display turns off.

I’m not sure where to go from here, pressing on each of the 7 joints from the header to the PCB doesn’t help and those joints look good to me. To see the other side of the board I think I need to desolder my other work to disassemble.

Any tips on things I could try? Maybe there’s joints on the underside of the board that I need to reflow.

I think I’ve found it, the joint from the header to the PCB for the first OLED pin is bad. If I stick a wire on it whilst I hit reset it boots up.

I’ll attempt to add some more solder to it.

I soldered that joint again and now it’s working reliably

Hello.

No problem, I’m just happy I managed to figure out a hardware issue.
