Wild Thumper w 12V motors?

Is it possible to get the Wild Thumper 4 wheel unit with 12V motors. I need 12V anyway for the Video Tx and camera, so it would simplify things if the motors could run off 12V a well.

Hello, Colin.

You can power the Wild Thumper motors with 12V, however, I recommend that you scale back the output from your motor drivers to under the recommended maximum of 9V since powering them higher than that, can reduce their lifespan. You can find some information about the damage that can occur to DC brushed motors if you supply them with too high of a voltage here.

Thanks very much Clint. I guess I didn’t explain too well. What I meant was, is it possible to buy the Thumper with any of the 12V motors you carry, instead of the stock 6V motors?

Unfortunately, we do not sell any 12V gearmotors that are compatible with the Wild Thumper chassis.

OK thanks Clint. I might be better off with the 6 V anyway. That way I won’t be tempted to run the motors and the video off the same battery.
