I use a 12v 10ah SLA to run a 30lb “dog” on two wheels. It’s too slow and the battery is too heavy. LiFePo scares me but I read lithium ion won’t work well for a motor. Suggestions?

I do not understand your “LiFePo scares me but I read lithium ion won’t work well for a motor”. First off, LiFePo is a type of lithium ion battery. Also, lithium ion batteries are used for motors all the time, for instance in drones, where weight is also a concern. Lithium ion batteries in general are more dangerous than SLA, but the LiFePo are supposed to be better on that front. If you follow the proper charge and discharge specifications for the batteries and stick with reputable brands, you should be ok.
