Voltage regulator for car battery charging

Hi everyone,

I’m building a bike-powered car battery charger. The motor’s output voltage will vary depending on speed, so I thought of getting this to regulate the voltage to ~13V: pololu.com/product/2573

The output current is 2A, but I think the current produced might be higher, so should I connect two regulators in parallel? Would that handle up to 4A?

Thanks!

It is generally not a good idea to connect voltage regulators in parallel, because they can’t be set to exactly the same voltages and will tend to “fight” each other.

“12 volt” lead acid batteries are normally charged at 13.8 - 14.2 volts. Learn more at batteryuniversity.com/learn/arti … id_battery
