USB AVR programmer on Studio 7

Just trying a v1.2 programmer on studio 7, on windows 10.

Its set as STK500 on com 3. The programmer appears as 2 USB serial devices in DM.

I cannot read a valid device ID. I seem to get different values.

Also got an unexpected exception:

Timestamp: 2021-03-05 15:14:59.227
Severity: ERROR
ComponentId: 23000
StatusCode: 0

Unexpected exception caught

System.NullReferenceException:
MethodName: UpdateProperties

Found that I had old drivers, but no change.

Programmer shows as “Pololu USB AVR Programmer v2.1 Programming Port” in DM.

Still getting invalid device ID.

Hello.

It sounds like the error might be stemming from Atmel Studio. Can you send a screenshot of the About AtmelStudio window in Atmel Studio?

Also, can you post a screenshot showing all the device entries for the Pololu USB AVR Programmer v2.1 in your Device Manager and a screenshot of the Device Programming dialog in Atmel Studio? Can you post a picture clearly showing the connections between the AVR programmer and the device you are trying to program?

I have a similar problem using my AVR 1300 The DM shows both programmer on Com4 and TTL serial as com3 but the Settings for devices only has the Pololu product name only and NO associated Com port. Studio 7 will not read it
