USB AVR Prog Config Utility - Error code 0xc0000135

I just installed the drivers and software for my new Pololu USB AVR Programmer https://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1300 on Windows XP on a Macbook Pro. When I try to start the configuration utility I get an Application Error:

“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.”

It’s coming from pgm03a_config.exe. Looking at https://www.pololu.com/docs/0J36/3.a:

  • I have Service Pack 3 installed
  • The version of C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\usbser.sys is 5.1.2600.5512.
  • All three devices show up without any errors in the Device Manager. COM3 and COM4 are being used.

I have rebooted the Macbook. I have unplugged and plugged back in the AVRISP.

Thanks for any help!

Success! Apparently, you can’t upload the firmware from Windows XP on a Bootcamp partition on a Macbook Pro. No matter how much you swear at it. I borrowed a friend’s Dell with Win7 and followed the instructions and it worked!
