U3V70F6 Step-Up Converter - Exceeding Max Current w/ Heatsink

Hello,

I would like to know if I can input 11A into the input of the 6V Step-Up Voltage Regulator U3V70F6 (Pololu item #: 2892) while installing a heatsink on top of the board.

I ask this because I noticed that there is a maximum input current of 10A under the specifications of this board. I want to know if I can increase the input current if I add a heat sink to manage the extra heat generated.

I would also like to know how long the U3V70F6 board can operate with an input current/volage of 11A and 3V.

Best Regards,
Mark

Hello, Mark.

As mentioned on the U3V70F6 product page, the IC on that regulator actively limits the input current to 10A. Adding a heatsink will not change that, so you would not be able to get to 11A input current no matter how well you cool it. Unfortunately, we do not have a regulator capable of handling that much power.
