Transiently turning on U3V70F12

I have a design with 12V supplied by a U3V70F12, but was recently able to remove all components needing 12V except a solenoid-based latch. My original design has a power transistor switching current to the latch, driven by a low-power signal. The latch does not need precise timing, is not powered often, and power is only for ~1s.

Would it be ok to remove the transistor, and directly power the latch via the U3V70F12 VOUT, with my low-power signal driving the regulator’s ENABLE pin? I would include a flyback diode to handle currents left flowing due to inductance when power is turned off.

Hello.

I generally expect that to work fine, especially with an inductive load like that.
