June 5, 2007 - The Pololu IR beacon is back and better than ever! The new transceivers have more uniform beam coverage than the original units, and battery level monitoring allows more consistent operation over the expanded 6-16 V operating range.
You can also purchase this product as an IR beacon development kit, which comes with no firmware and without IR detectors. These development kits give the advanced user the ability to create his own group of custom receivers and transmitters (e.g. you can place a set of transmitter beacons throughout you house, each of which sends out its own unique IR pulse pattern that lets the receiver beacon on your robot determine which room it’s in).
