I have reached out to Sharp to try and find the beam divergence angle of this Short Range Infrared Proximity sensor and no luck at all. Does anyone knows if this is a straight line sensor or geometric shape (cone) beam? Please help!

There is definitely some divergence to the beam, but we have not characterized how much. It looks like Acroname did some characterization of the beam angles for various Sharp sensors that you might find helpful:
