Servo controller : fail when asking for signature

Hi,

I followed the instructions on the Pololu Serial Transmitter utility for Windows to make the servo controller SSC04A work. I tried 0x81, which should return the signature of the device, but I got
received: 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 '
and later
received: 01 ‘r’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’ 00 ’

Would you have any idea of what it means, and how I can make the device work normally ?

Thank you very much,
All the best,
Mani.

Hello, Mani.

Have you looked at the product user’s guide available on the resources tab of the product page? I am not sure why you tried to send 0x81. Also, the Pololu serial 8-servo controller does not have a serial command for getting a signature. Can you see if the user’s guide helps you? If you still have questions or problems after that, please post a wiring diagram, a description of your power source and servos, and a picture of your setup.
