Question about Pololu 12V step up regulator U3V12F12

I have a question about your 12V voltage step up regulator, part number U3V12F12. What happens if the input voltage is higher than 12V? For example, say the input voltage is 15V, will the output voltage also be 15V? Or will the voltage regulator get damaged and stop working?

Hi.

The behavior of the regulator IC used on the U3V12F12 is not specified for input voltages greater than the output voltage, so we cannot guarantee any particular behavior or that the regulator will not be damaged. That being said, it is common for the output voltage of a step-up regulator to follow the input voltage when it is higher. The absolute maximum input voltage of the U3V12F12 is 20V, so the input should definitely not go above that.
