Also, if you have a motor controller with over-current detection, and you’re not sizing the system for high-current motors, then the inrush current of the 100 nF capacitors may be enough to trip the overcurrent protection. I had this happen on a Zumo with micro metal gearmotors and a 100 nF ceramic capacitor.
You can calculate the inrush current based on the ESR of your capacitor, integrated over the detection time of your current sensor (which may not be easy to find documented.)
