Pololu Digital Distance Sensor behind glas

I have to detect an object behind a shop window (double glazed). The sensor will be fixed inside direct on the glas (glued) , Objects 5cm … 10cm away from the surface outside should be detected. Which sensor type should I use ? Does anyone have any practical knowledge with this application ? Serie 40xx ???

Hello.

All of our proximity/range finding sensors are either IR or sonar. It might be worth trying an IR sensor to see if it will work through your glass; it probably depends on the specific IR wavelength and type of glass. One of our Digital Distance Sensors might be a good starting point.

Otherwise, you might consider trying a sensor that uses microwaves, such as the X-Band Motion Detector from Parallax.
