Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any help with this:
Purchased the mini push button power switch SV (2809) to insert a momentary pushbutton between the power and motor of a Numark PT01 turntable.
Only problem is it is not switching on and off - at best it jerks on for about 0.5s then back to off (or does nothing at all). I have two different 2809s and both don’t work.
I measured the input voltage and it is 6.3v DC (I have a cheapo multimeter which also reads 13v AC but I’m assuming that’s just an error).
Even if I disconnect the button completely and use the button on the 2809 it either does nothing or it lights up kind of weakly and blinky while I am holding the button down.
Any ideas? I assume the voltage is good enough considering 6.3 v falls into the range of 4.5v to 40v.
To be clear I wired the positive voltage to VIN and negative to one of the ground in.
Just to clarify, the #2809 pushbutton power switch should not require you to hold the button down; it should latch on with the first press and turn off with the second.
Does your turntable work as expected when you power it directly from your 6.3V source? Could you try testing your pushbutton power switch without the load (turntable) connected and see if you can reliably turn the onboard LED on and off with the onboard pushbutton? Could you post some more details about the power supply you’re using?
Also, could you post some pictures of your setup that show all of your connections, including how you are measuring the voltage with your multimeter?
Well, strangely, I redid the voltage measurements to be able to take photos of the setup etc as you requested, and it reads consistently around 3V…
Assuming I’m reading the voltage properly (completely unsure why it’s different now), I suppose the problem is I need the low voltage version of the Pololu power switch.
I’m attaching photos of the measurements, and of the cables soldered back to having no Pololu switch. The switch was wired in the spot where you can see the wires were cut (where I read with the multimeter). At my final stage of trying I had wired the two wires on the right to the Pololu 2809 (the red to the input and the white to the ground).
Thanks so much for your reply, I guess I’ll purchase the low voltage one and go from there.
