That variable indicates the number of 10-bit analog samples to average per channel (per sensor) for each reading. You can find additional information in the “Pololu AVR Library Command Reference” in the “QTR Reflectance Sensors” section at the end under the description of the “PololuQTRSensorsAnalog::init” function. The “Pololu AVR Library Command Reference” can be found under the “Resources” tab of the sensor’s product page.
