New Orangutan SV-168 and encoder system for micro gearmotors

Hello!

We have recently been adding too many products to announce individually, but there are some particularly exciting new items I’d like to highlight.

We have released the Orangutan SV-168, an update to our original Orangutan that makes it code compatible with the Orangutan LV-168. The board also has the same form factor as the LV-168, with more accessible pushbuttons and terminal blocks for the power and motor connections. The power system has been substantially improved, with better reverse-battery protection, our patent-pending pushbutton power switch, a larger operating range from 6-13.5V, and a switching 5V regulator that delivers up to 3A. We’ve also reduced the price of the original Orangutan to clear out the old stock.

We also have a new quadrature encoder system for the popular micro metal gearmotors and our 42x19mm wheel. The system provides a resolution of 48 counts per revolution, which corresponds to a linear resolution of just under 3mm (1/8"). Depending on the motor you use, you can get over 2m/s while keeping track of your position without placing too much of a burden on your microcontroller.

You can see all our new products using the new products link at the top of the left navigation panel. Let us know what you think and what you would like to see in the future!
