My design assumes an opposite placement of two gear motors with encoders, so the distance between two encoders is 20 mm (0.8 inch approx.). Since the encoders are Hall’s effect based, will they influence and disturb each other and, if so, is there a way to prevent this? Put a metal plate between them or some motor cover, for example…
The encoders on each sensor should not interfere with each other. The sensing range of these Hall effect sensors is very small, and even bending them a small amount away from the magnet they are paired with can greatly affect how well they detect its magnetic field, so the field from the other motor’s magnet which is, in comparison, much further away should not affect it.
