Maestro polulu 24ch servo controller output problem

i am a newbie on this topic so if i just want to ask…
if i set the channal13 as output on a 24channal servo controller…
i assume it will produce 5v or almost 5vdc output…so my question is …
can i use the output to control a 5volt relay…
because from the voltage i measure …the signal line will produce a 4.7volt output …but once i connect it to a
SDR-05VDC-SL-C RELAY…the voltage start drop to 1volt… but i going back to 5volt once i disconnect it from the relay…
can i know why?

Hello,

The Maestro’s outputs are limited to a few milliamps each, which is not enough to drive relays. You can read more about the limits here in the section about the SIG lines, and search Google for something like “MOSFET relay driver circuit” to see how to properly drive relays. You could also use a motor driver like the DRV8835 connected to the coil (a relay coil is similar to a motor).

What are you controlling with your relay?
