I have a pair of USB bluetooth adapters. Could the USB A connector be a way to bring wireless to the m3pi, as a first step?

It might be possible to use the mbed as a USB host and have it communicate through a USB Bluetooth dongle; this page on the mbed site might be a good place to start, although we have not tried doing this. In general, though, it would probably be much easier to add wireless functionality to an m3pi with a Wixel, an XBee module, or a Bluetooth module with a serial interface. Sections 1.c and 4.a of the m3pi user’s guide talk about these options.
