I have one of your m3PI robots.
If I want to reprogram the 3PI on the bottom and ignore the mbed is it okay to reprogram the 3PI with the mbed still attached, or do I need to remove the mbed when not in use?
Please be more specific with your title. I own a 3pi, not an m3pi, so my answer might not work. Check if your mbed is using any isp programming lines. Disconnect it if it is, as interference while programming can destroy the microcontroller.

Programming the 3pi with the mbed installed probably won’t damage the controller, but if you want to be safe you could just remove the mbed when programming the 3pi. It shouldn’t be that difficult to take the mbed out of the socket.
