HC-SR04P ultrasonic sensor + Pololu 3pi+ 2040

Hi Team,

Newbie here, seeking help with connection hardware.

Can I please check what is the best way to connect ultrasonic sensor like HC-SR04P to Pololu 3pi+ 2040?

I have purchased 2 components , then I went to get some jumper wires and pins. However its not working well as I cant get the pins to stuck to the Pololu 3pi+ 2040 circuit board.

Is there any non soldering way to get it work? What kind of component will I need to make a stable connection? I wish to mount the sensor on robot.

Regards

Hello.

You will need to solder the connections to the 3pi+ 2040 Control Board to ensure good electrical connections. It looks like you have male header pins and female-to-male jumper wires, so you have a couple options:

  1. Solder the male header pins to the appropriate pins on the 3pi+ 2040 Control Board and then replace your jumper wires with female-female jumper wires to make the connections.

  2. Replace your male header pins with female header pins, solder the female header pins to the control board, and use your male-female jumper wires to make the connections.

  3. Solder the male end of your male-female jumper wires directly to the appropriate pins on the 3pi+ 2040 Control Board and connect the female end to the ultrasonic sensor. I generally do not recommend this option as it is less flexible in the future.

By the way, in case you weren’t sure which pins to use, you can find some useful information in the “Adding electronics” section of the 3pi+ 2040 Control Board user’s guide.
