Setting safe “min- max” margins for an unknown Servo:
How to make sure not to over drive an unknown servo? I have one Servo that is getting too hot to touch.
Is measuring the supply current an option or (hopefully) there is easier way?

We have some general advice for finding the limits of a servo in the FAQs tab of the Maestro product pages, under the “How do I use my Maestro servo controller to get the maximum possible range of motion from my servo?” heading.

If your servo is getting too hot to touch, it is probably drawing quite a bit of current, so you might be running it beyond it’s endpoint. Following the method described in that FAQ while also measuring the current would probably be a good start.
