Backfeeding D24V25F5 voltage regulator

I am using the D24V25F5 voltage regulator to step down 14.8v from a battery to 5v to go to my Adafruit STM32 board. I need to program the STM32 over USB, but the USB power is connected to the same power rail as the output from the D24V25F5, so it would back-power the voltage regulator.

If I disconnect the battery and I power the VOUT pin of the D24V25F5 in this way, will I damage the voltage regulator? And, would doing this cause a high voltage to be generated on the VIN pin or any other adverse affects?

Thanks

Hello.

Our regulators do not have any special protections against power being back-fed through the output, and we have not characterized them for that kind of use. If that is a concern in your system, you might consider adding some additional protection such as one of our ideal diode modules.
