If I send Start Frame, LED frames, then End Frame. will the LED’s hold that state until next Start Frame? I only need to update every 5 minutes or so with my application. Or do I need to keep my clock and data running continuously?

Hello.

The APA102C LED strips can hold their state indefinitely as long as power remains connected; you do not need to send the same command continuously.
